New People
The new set of apps and services from Gemini empowers you to go beyond pattern making or nesting, by serving other contributors and participants to the product’s lifecycle. Let’s meet and welcome them.
“I am a fashion designer, not a fashion dreamer. My vision as a designer must become a real product. I need to include sourcing and manufacturing constraints in my creative process. I work with real fabrics from the Gemini Cloud library, I exchange and validate ideas with the pattern maker using 3D simulation, and I negotiate accessories, sewing and finishing techniques with the garmenting engineer and the cost specialist. I am not a pattern maker, but I use my own CAD license to stay in permanent contact with all the other contributors, as well as being cloud-connected to the digital assets which empowers my creative activity.”
“Hey guys, I finally see a technology provider who serves my needs and provides me with a collaborative platform to reach other contributors and the digital content of each new product. My job is about counting threads, fabrics, buttons, operator time and so on. The best place to find all this information, accurately measured, is in my own CAD license. No need to ask the pattern maker about fabric consumption or the garmenting engineer about the sewing operations. What a relief for me and for them.”
“What You See Is What You Get. This is the amazing gift brought to me by AutomART. I have a direct link with my favorite tool – Illustrator, I place artwork on patterns, and I see them on the 3D product, with perfect matching size-by-size. Placing, grading, matching and printing is almost trivial, so now my time is focused more on the real creative activities and less on the technical preparation, which has become so easy.”
“Talking to the designer has always been a challenge for me. I work with orders and spreadsheets, not with artistic sketches. Now, with Digital Assets, I know in detail what fabrics and trimmings they plan to use in a new product, the quantities and deadlines, so I can prepare the availability of each raw material early in the process. Receiving structured information instead of fashion poetry is a game changer for me.”
“My mission in life is to reduce returns because of bad fitting. For the first time, my job is done intimately inside the CAD process. I work in the dimensions’ tables, I have access to check and measure the real patterns and products size by size, and I decide what data to publish for the consumers to better inform them. I have never had such tools in my hand; it has completely changed the impact of my job.”
“No more back and forth with our designer and the garmenting engineer. We all work in the same team actively developing the models, going from idea to patterns, 3D product and real product. We find out together, in real time, if something can be done, if it looks and fits nicely, what fabric to use and how to match the prints, how to manufacture the product and all its development until meeting the final client.”
“At the end of the day, efficiency matters, and I can see the power of cloud nesting in the results. Also, the big surprise of Nest EXPERT is how it starts the jobs: I don’t have to input any data by hand. The fabrics, nesting constraints and matching rules come automatically with the model and from the cloud.”
“I can see the numbers. There are two magical buttons in Planner EXPERT: Cloud Nesting and the Costing & Procurement Report. I can fully process an order with 17 markers in 5 minutes and know in advance all cost elements from fabric to labor and equipment. Because it is so fast, I can now try several variants. The Planner is connected to the cloud and retrieves all the fabrics and cutting room details; basically, everything is automated.”
“I am being challenged to provide an immersive, best shopping experience for e-commerce fashion customers. How can this be done in the busiest online environment and for the pickiest consumers ever? Well, this being my task, Gemini is the solution. Using the 3D simulation and the Advanced 3D Package, I create a coherent visual concept for my collections, where all the details – from light and poses to accessories or decor – are uniformly applied to the models. Then, I use the Gemini Cloud e-commerce publishing options to provide all the data and tools needed on the e-shop platform, to enhance and optimize the customer’s experience – from exploring the product, to size & fit verifications, to customization requests and finally to the purchase.”
“I learned during my apprenticeship that a good tailor knows how to ask the right questions and get the right measurements from the client. That is what Gemini Style Editor and MTM Publishing enable me to do today, for our on-demand products: prepare in detail the entire online interaction with the consumer, with all it implies, from developing the product, to publishing and getting the order done. This automated process includes informing the clients about options, retrieving their customization answers, getting measurements and triggering changes on the product. It wasn’t easy for me to learn how to work directly in my own CAD app, but now I somehow feel the power of being a computer programmer, with a mindset of providing the best on-demand experience and the best quality output.”
“I see in real time how my team is progressing, not by asking them, but by relying on data automatically reported by each CAD station to the cloud. I see the bottlenecks, products behind schedule and work ready to be presented to clients. The time, effort and cost of development of each new product are accurate, with just a click. I can also share resources and information with selected partners, inside and outside my organization so to better organize the collaborative work.”
“Am I an engineer, a designer or a cost specialist? Whatever I decide to produce a garment will also impact the aspect, wearability and cost. For the first time, I work with my own CAD license, and when I decide a certain type of seam and stitch, this will be instantly visible in the 3D simulation. It will automatically change the seam allowance, will allocate the right sewing machine and will update the thread consumption. I never thought we would reach this level of integration one day…”
